Laura Kanoski
Soprano
BiographySoprano Laura Kanoski is hailed by the Springfield Journal-Register as having “a mature and polished voice...we look forward to hearing more!” She recently appeared as Gretel in Loveland Opera Theatre’s production of Hänsel and Gretel, and has performed locally with such companies as Colorado Light Opera, The Boulder Philharmonic, Empire Lyric Players and Opera Colorado. As a soloist she has appeared in concert in such works as Handel’s Messiah, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Imant Raminsh’s Magnificat. Equally comfortable on the musical theatre stage, Laura’s credits include Laurey in Oklahoma!, Rosemary in How to Succeed in Business, Mrs. Anderssen in Sondheim’s A Little Night Music and Fermina in Man of La Mancha. Laura was awarded a scholarship from Centro Studi Italiano in Urbania, Italy where she participated in a month long language intensive. While there she performed in concert at Teatro Bramante and Palazzo Brancaleoni, and studied with Giorgia Borgacci and soprano Pamela Lucciarini. Laura received her MM from the University of Colorado in Boulder where she performed such roles as Female Chorus in The Rape of Lucrezia and Jade Boucher in the academic premiere of Jake Heggie’s Dead Man Walking. Before relocating to Colorado, Laura completed her undergraduate studies at Northwestern University where she studied with Theresa Brancaccio and vocal coach Richard Boldrey. While at Northwestern she performed with the educational outreach ensemble Children’s Opera Works. Laura currently lives in Boulder, CO where she studies with Julie Simson and enjoys baking, practicing yoga, and teaching voice lessons. She can be seen in the opera-cabaret OperApocalypse at the Boulder International Fringe Festival this August, or in the World Premiere of Hayden Woolf's Persist to Subsist Through Inconsistent Hostile Skin, at Northwestern University in October. |
